Landing in Israel

Nechita Be'Yisrael נחיתה בישראל

Upon your arrival in Israel, your next steps of the Aliyah registration process will take place at the airport itself. It is therefore important to have all the necessary documents with you in your carry-on luggage!

What You Will Need

Passports & Immigration Visa

Bring all your passports including the immigration visa (one for every member of the family) which you received from the Jewish Agency (it might be inside the passport or a separate document).

Arrival Form

The arrival form which you received from the Shaliach.

Letter from Emissary

You might have received a letter from your Jewish Agency Shaliach. If you did, bring it with you.

Documents for Aliyah

You have to bring the already submitted original Aliyah Documents, such as:

  • Birth Certificate (with simple translation into English or Hebrew)
  • Marital Status Certificate
  • Proof of Judaism
  • Photo – You need to bring three printed photos (3 x 4 inches) that only include your face on a white background. Each Oleh needs to have three printed copies of the same photo.

What Happens Next

Escort by Governmental Representative

After landing you should proceed directly to Misrad HaKlita – משרד הקליטה – Absorption Ministry office (see the instructional video from MHK)

Olim who arrive independently on non-Israeli airlines, must also complete the ETA form (even if they hold an Aliyah visa).

Receipt of Documents

You will receive:

  • Teudat Oleh – תעודת עולה – Immigration certificate
  • Temporary Teudat Zehut – תעודת זהות – ID or registration form to receive it later from Misrad HaPnim – משרד הפנים – Ministry of Interior
  • Sefach – ספח – ID appendix
  • A registration form for your Kupat Cholim – קופת חולים – HMO
  • Document you will use for opening an Israeli bank account
  • Sal Klita – Olim Chadashim receive part of their first Sal Klita payment at the airport in the form of a prepaid credit card loaded with the appropriate amount. The second half is deposited directly into their bank account once it has been opened and the account details have been provided to the Ministry of Absorption.
  • Each card also has a QR code printed on it that the Oleh can scan to view the remaining balance on the card.
  • Please note that one should be able to use the credit card to purchase items anywhere and withdraw cash at ATMs located in the major banks, Discount, Leumi, HaPoalim etc.

Luggage

Collect your luggage, go through customs.

A Ride to Your Destination

If you have made a prior arrangement with the Jewish Agency, free transportation will be provided to your new home in Israel. If you did not, you will need to arrange your travel independently.

Important Note

Review Documents

Check all the information on any documents you are given, especially on the Teudat Oleh. The benefits you will receive vary based on the number of family members and their ages. Make sure that all the information is up to date and ensure that your name in Hebrew is spelled correctly.

Temporary Teudat Zehut

The Teudat Zehut you receive at the airport is a temporary one and only valid for 3 months. You will need to go to Misrad HaPnim to get your official biometric Teudat Zehut card.

If you didn’t receive your temporary Teudat Zehut at the airport, the Sefach or appendix serves as a substitute. You will need to present it when contacting various institutions such as Kupat Cholim, the bank, schools etc.
