Aliyah BaShenit
עליה בשנית
If you previously held Israeli citizenship and at some point renounced it or had it cancelled, and now wish to return to live in Israel, you must go through a process known as Aliyah BaShenit -עלייה בשנית, which literally means “making Aliyah for the second time”.
Eligibility Requirements
- You previously held Israeli citizenship and had/have a Teudat Zehut number
- You formally renounced that citizenship (ARLI or cancellation)
- You now wish to return to live in Israel
How is this different from a first Aliyah?
You are not considered an Oleh Chadash – עולה חדש – new immigrant, but you may be eligible to receive some of the benefits granted to Olim, depending on your individual circumstances.
