Religious Kibbutzim Options – Israel

Below is an overview of religious kibbutzim options in Israel, focusing on communities associated with the Religious Kibbutz Movement as well as two religious kibbutzim publicly identified with Poalei Agudat Yisrael..

Most kibbutzim do not publicly list a direct absorption committee contact. In practice, the usual step is to contact the Kibbutz main office directly and ask for the person responsible for Klita - קליטה - Absorption, membership, or new families.

 Typical absorption process

Processes differ by Kibbutz, but the standard pattern usually includes:

  • An initial inquiry to the Kibbutz office
  • Submission of personal and family background details
  • A community or Shabbat visit
  • Interviews with the relevant committee
  • A trial period or temporary residency arrangement
  • A final decision by the community or authorized body
 Religious Kibbutz Movement Communities

The Religious Kibbutz Movement describes itself as a Zionist, religious, agricultural settlement movement. Its public materials identify member communities across the Galilee, Gush Etzion, the Beit She’an Valley, the center of the country, and the Negev.

Some well known examples below, check out the link above for a complete list:

 Poalei Agudat Yisrael–affiliated religious kibbutzim

There are also two religious kibbutzim that are not part of the Religious Kibbutz Movement and are instead associated with Poalei Agudat Yisrael:

 Additional Options
  • For people interested in exploring kibbutz life while learning Hebrew, the Kibbutz Ulpan program in Kibbutz Sde Eliyahu is also a viable option.
  • Another structured option is First Home in the Homeland, which has some participating religious programs.

Tip: Since absorption processes differ between kibbutzim, contact the Kibbutz main office directly and ask for the person responsible for Klita, membership, or new families.
